  • Jeffrey Smart

    Director & co-Founder

    Jeffrey is an expert in international education, university marketing, admissions and student recruitment, customer service and the student lifecycle, online education, and student success and retention strategies.

    He worked for 25 years in three universities in Melbourne, Australia: the University of Melbourne (1989-1999), Monash University (1999-2005), and Swinburne University of Technology (2005-2016).

    His roles in the sector have included:

    • Member of the ETS TOEFL Board, USA, 2010-2014

    • Member of the Universities Australia Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) International Committee Executive, 2012-2016

    • Member of the Victorian State Government’s Ministerial Advisory Council on International Education 2014-2016

    • Board director, Online Education Services Pty Ltd (Swinburne Online) – 2011-2013, and 2014-2016

    • Board director, National Institute of Circus Arts Ltd – 2013-2016

  • Janee Heffernan

    Director & co-Founder

    Janee is an expert in P&L management, international education, the student lifecycle, student success, and the delivery of technical and customer service solutions to support client universities across Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia and the UK.

    She has over 15 years senior executive experience in international education, through her work with Hobsons Solutions Asia Pacific.  Hobsons APAC was owned by the Daily Mail and General Trust UK until 2017.

    She has extensive leadership experience in human resource management, strategic planning and delivering outstanding client outcomes.  Janee has deep experience in P&L management, restructuring businesses to drive profitability, and business transformation.

  • Angela Lehmann

    Education Analyst

    Angela has had a rich and varied career in research, policy and analysis in Australia, China and the UK.  Angela has been a lecturer in Sociology at the ANU, and an Assistant Professor at Xiamen University China, and holds adjunct and honorary appointments at each.

    She is a China expert, and worked as international policy analyst at Universities Australia in 2017 and 2018.  She has worked as a researcher at Matrix Evidence in London, developing policy analysis for the British government.  And she has been Leader, Major Research Projects at the Regional Australia Institute.

    Angela has expertise in migration and higher education and has published several books and articles, and has a PhD in sociology from ANU.

  • Thomas Carey

    Digital Marketer & Growth Hacker

    Thomas brings a welcomed change of perspective to higher education, with strong focus on digital and growth. Upon completing his Bachelor of Commerce at Melbourne University, majoring in Economics and Marketing, Thomas’ keen interest in digital led him to the rather fresh and innovative space of growth hacking: the process of rapid and creative experimentation across marketing channels and product development.

    As a growth specialist, Thomas is data-driven, and seeks to identify the most effective and efficient ways to scale a business. If you are not testing, you are losing; both on a personal and organisational level.

    Already, Thomas has leveraged his skillset and been able to make a tangible impact on various TLG solutions.

    With over 20 years' experience leading student-centric education technology, digital and transformation businesses, Garth is an expert in creating strategies, solutions and services across the student lifecycle. 

    Why? He likes getting people excited about the things he’s excited about, & right now he’s most excited about the potential of combining the enablement of technology and artificial intelligence with the passion & ingenuity of people to improve our society.

    Garth has extensive experience in the digital and education technology sectors, specifically in General Management, Product, Strategy, Digital Transformation & Commercial leadership. His previous experience includes VP of Global Product, as well as the Regional VP (GM) Asia Pacific and Regional Director of Strategy and Transformation for a global Edtech provider, and Director of Operations for a cutting edge digital agency.

  • Natasha Ravagli

    Strategic Partner

    Natasha has had over 15 years’ experience in the Higher education sector. Having been in the role of both Head of Operations and Director Customer Experience during her 15 years at QS/Hobsons Enrolment Solutions, Natasha is an expert in Student Enquiry and Conversion Management, Customer Relationship Management Systems and Customer Experience Framework.

    Natasha’s areas of expertise also include:

    • Leadership and staff management,

    • Student Journey Planning and Experience,

    • Operations Management,

    • Developing and implementing strategic initiatives,

    • Client Relationship Management,

    • Change Management.

    Natasha is passionate about the Higher education sector and the student journey within it. She believes it is crucial to adopt a holistic approach by having the right systems, processes and people in place to benefit the student, the staff and the business.
